Day One

Well lovelies, you’ve arrived.

It’s soooooooooo nice to have you here.

Before we begin this week-long intensive retreat, there is one and only one rule which you must adhere to. Right now, before we go any further, you must put down all your worries. Leave the unpaid bills and work stress and recent fights and grabby children and bad news right here. They will be all be waiting for you when you get back, I promise. All these things are strictly prohibited inside because, friends, this is your time now.

This retreat is yours.

Ladies, your bedroom.

I pulled some strings and scored you the room with the most spectacular view. You’ll thank me for that in a minute when you get out of bed and look out the window. By the way, I’m not sure why there are two wine glasses sitting at the end of your bed. Either you had a guest late last night you are not telling me about, or room service caters for those needing to start their day with a little extra buzz.

That’s okay. Anything rolls here this week. No judgement from me.

Anyway, lovelies, go to the window. Quick. Have a peak.

Nothing but golden sun and rolling mountains and fresh air thick with scents of sweetness and spring.

I know, it’s beautiful. You can thank me later.

Now, I don’t want to startle you too much, I know you’ve just woken after all, but I have to let you know that room service is here with your breakfast. Before you open the door though, I’d recommend you apply a quick dash off lippie.

Just do it.

Lovelies, meet Mr Worthington.

Mr Worthington is here to serve you breakfast.  He’s flown all the way from AMERICA, you guys, just to make sure you’re fed. Don’t even ask how much I had to pay to have him here, but he’s here now and he will be at your service all week. He knows the rules though. This is women’s territory. He wouldn’t dare cross over.

Say thank you to the kind man and enjoy your breakfast.

The flowers are a very nice touch, I must say. I didn’t even tell him to do that.

So, how are you feeling?

There’s more good news.

Mr Worthington has made something for you.

This is where you will spend your day, lovelies. Or, if you’d like something a bit more padded, you can laze about here instead.

And as you look out, this is what you see.

There are flower fields everywhere.

Beautiful, hey?

Now I suppose you are wondering what you’re going to do all day? Well, I’ve heard that this is a good book to read.

Not that I’ve read it. Not that I got hooked at all. Not that I’ve ever said to Joel why can’t you be more like Christian Grey? Without the whips of course. And the troubled past.

Or you could read this.

That’s what I’m reading today. By the way, do you know Anne Lamott? Friends if you don’t, READ THIS BOOK TODAY. She is amazing.

Now, if you get hungry, just call out for Mr Worthington. He caters for gluten and dairy-intolerance too. It’s a magic kitchen he uses. He bakes anything you want and it’s totally fat-free.

I’ll see you tomorrow sweet friends. I’m off to read about Christia- uh Anne Lamott, and it’s already getting late.

Enjoy your day!

Ahhhh – this is my kinda retreat. How is it that you have been able to read my mind and know my tastes so well? Is this what is known as a ‘collective mummy consciousness’? Ms R – you really are the ultimate ‘concierge’! By the way; I know what you mean about that 50 Shades… it is just ‘Pride and Prejudice’ with bondage; but I got sucked in and couldn’t put it down either!!!! hahaha xx

It’s beautiful isn’t it? And yes, I think it is collective mummy consciousness. Once we have kids, we are all dreaming of a place like this to escape to every now and again!
