Sharing Melissa and Michael’s wedding with you today, a day so heartfelt that I too cried when Mel walked down the stairs to her awaiting dad, ready to see his girl for the first time and then give her away to a man she loves. There is no doubt that Mel is her daddy’s girl and to recognise not only the love she has for her husband but also the bond that binds her and her father, well, I couldn’t help but think that she was pretty much the luckiest girl in the world. I could tell that she’d dreamt of this day since she was a little girl and I just felt so happy to be part of it.
These wedding days, they are the stuff of dreams.
Melissa & Michael were married in a gorgeous old stone chapel on the side of rolling green hills in Dayboro. Henzells Chapel was enchanting, soulful and beautifully quaint. Reception followed at Old Petrie Town which is hands down, one of my favourite places to visit and photograph.
Melissa + Michael, 2 April 2016.
We had so much fun at the bridal party photos that I could barely stop laughing to keep my camera straight and I just felt like it was such an honour to share a day like this in such an intimate way.
And then this moment – one I know Melissa has been dreaming about ever since she was a little girl. Dancing with her father on her wedding day. Honestly, there was not a dry eye in the room.
Michael took over and everyone clapped and it was just all so beautiful it can’t really be talked about.
Mel and Michael,
You’ve been through so much to get here – too much, really – but like it says in the Bible, and like it was said in that sacred little chapel you exchanged vows and love and futures: Only three things remain – hope, faith and love. But the greatest of these is love.
There is a road ahead of you and it’s bright and long and full to the brim with love. May you walk along it hand-in-hand, until the very, very end.
All my love.
